The Institute for Contemporary Art of Miami plans to open its doors by 2016.The institute will open its doors during Art Basel Miami Beach week with an exhibit and a series of events at its temporary home the historic Moore building, 4040 NE 2nd Ave., in Miami’s Design District.
The institute is raising money through memberships, but Norman Braman has made a commitment to pay for the cost of the future building.
“Art has become an intricate part of the life in this community,” Braman said.
Developer Craig Robins donated a property on Northeast 41st Street and North Miami Avenue in the heart of Miami’s Design District.
Architects from Spain have been commissioned to design the building. Renderings have already been released.
