Explore the Jardins d’Etretat
A renowned landscape architect Alexandre Grivko heard about the project and was instrumental in their design.
In 2015, Alexandre Grivko and his talented team of architects recreated the historical landscape. Les Jardins d’Étretat expanded their borders, hosted new objets d’art and were given new life.

Etretat Gardens appear to have no beginning or end. They comprise different components united by one idea.
The graphics and perfect architecture can be seen from any viewpoint.
These are futuristic gardens, working with dimensions of live sculptures and streamlined forms, as if borrowed from the nature of the Normandy coast itself.
The first part, the Garden of Avatar, welcomes visitors and takes them to a magical land where you can imagine yourself a character from Avatar or Alice in Wonderland.
Intertwined here are the roots of century-old trees and plants nurtured by gardeners (holly ilex aquifolium, osmanthus burkwoodii and osmanthus heterophillus).
Life was created by nature; the philosophical and extraordinary gardens of Etretat have been shaped by man.
The Power Garden symbolises the movement of the ocean. The images of rising and ebbing tide, waves and whirlpools have been skillfully sculpted from Phillyrea angustifolia shrubs to rise in waves or descend in spirals, framed by blue Agapanthus africanus.
Here, you can enjoy the most spectacular view of the Aval Cliff and the famous needle protruding from the ocean.
Garden of Emotions and Bottom of the Ocean.
You can see how Enkianthus japonicas (imported from Japan) and Buxus sempervirens have been cut to represent shells of mollusks, recreated in honor of Etretat’s oyster farm, well-known since the 18th Century.
The impression is complemented by unique rubber sculptures made by Spanish artist Samuel Salcedo, depicting faces of people experiencing an intense range of emotions.
Tree Huggers’ Garden. In this sculpture composition by Wiktor Szostalo, people line up to hug the last tree on Earth. The project was conceived in 2005 and has since travelled around the world. Through a variety of images, the artist calls for the protection of nature. The sculptures were made with materials found in parks, including dried stems.
Wiktor has created various characters for different countries; for France, he fashioned a sculpture of Claude Monet painting the sunset at Etretat – “Soleil Couchant à Etretat”. The artist appears to be looking on from a huge ship and painting the ocean with large strokes. Monet’s masterpiece, like Etretat Gardens, should be viewed from different distances and angles.
The founder of the garden, Madame Thébault, in 1907 assembled rare species of orchids that symbolized concubines in sultan Suleiman’s harem, where every “flower-concubine” expressed its special beauty and temper.
While taking care of it, she got into Roxelana character, who had eclipsed her husband’s power (sultan). As the result, Madame Thébault got international prominence in cinema.
Since, garden and villa were named Roxelane (the first name of the garden). Whole of Madame Thébault’s orchids are collected nowadays.
The Parnassus Garden incarnates Alabaster Coast of Normandy. Plants create a rock layers pattern of the cliffs. The mythological “Parnassus” is a tribute to the sacred mountain on top of which muse of art dwells, giving an inspiration to Garden’s guests.
Inspired by famous Etretat cliffs, Claude Monet wrote his painting series “Les Falaises à Étretat”.
This famous canvas was painted on one of Etretat Gardens’ terrace in 1886 and now is a part of Shchukin’s eminent collection exhibited in Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow.
In 2016, Polish artist Wiktor Szostalo (www.facebook.com/wiktor.szostalo) installed at this place a monument to the impressionist who is working on the famous paysage. Take a look at spectacular view from Etretat Gardens through Monet’s eyes!

Battersea Power Station Redevelopment: Five Facts

A rooftop infinity pool boasting views over Battersea Power Station has been unveiled for the Foster + Partners-designed building proposed beside the historic London structure (+ movie).

The outdoor swimming pool will form part of a 160-room hotel that will be housed within The Skyline – a large mixed-use block designed by Foster + Partners as part of the third phase of development for the 17-hectare Battersea Power Station development site.

Billed as “the jewel” in the hotel’s crown, the pool will be located at the southernmost end of the building, right beside one of the old power station’s four iconic chimneys.

It will be set within a 250-square-metre roof garden designed by New York landscape firm James Corner Field Operations, which was also behind the High Line.

According to the Architect’s Journal, Copenhagen and New York-based BIG will makes its UK debut with the so-called Malaysia Square – a key public space within the £8 billion redevelopment of the decommissioned power station site.

Battersea Power Station Development Company has signed lifestyle hotel operator art’otel at its redevelopment of London’s iconic Battersea Power Station to be managed by PPHE Hotel Group and including an outdoor pool and bar overlooking the famous chimney stacks.

The final construction contract will have a value of more than £1 billion, making it one of the largest private building contracts ever to be awarded. Works are due to start on site in early 2016, alongside the on-going construction of Circus West (Phase 1) and the regeneration of the Power Station itself (Phase 2). Together, Phase 1, 2 and 3 will be the largest single development project in central London since Canary Wharf.

This is an all-day event that begins with lunch and tours at our Los Angeles campus, followed by a round-trip bus ride to the Barker Hangar to enjoy the premier fashion runway show on the West Coast as graduating FIDM students make their debut in the fashion/design industry. FIDM’s DEBUT Runway Show features the work of FIDM Advanced Fashion Design, Digital Media, Interior Design, Textile Design, and Theatre Costume students.

Your $10 [non-refundable] ticket includes Open House, lunch, bus transportation, and DEBUT Runway Show admission. All ticket proceeds go to this year’s charitable organization, The Born This Way Foundation.

Sometimes we have to give up the Artist the Perfectionist personality ” The Dreamer” without loosing the Vision of the essence of the dream in order to deliver what’s asked in reality by the consumer demands. Not everyone wants the ultra modern architecture or design .

Perhaps…. Maybe they don’t even know what it means!

Each individual evolve differently, but since I am an investor and real estate developer, I’m still a Designer .

But I also have a niche to supply this specific demand. I’m not going to let someone else take my business opportunity to supply what’s asked of me.

Maybe one day the same person who bought one of my projects will come back requesting the futuristic, edgy design aesthetics that I can deliver through my work and visionary mind.

At least I know I can make my customers happy at the moment.

The New Living Revolution Micro Apartments

The Carmel Place NYC

The Apartment Aesthetics are amazing and very Comfortable

We’ve heard a lot about Carmel Place, New York City’s micro-apartment building, in the past few years. I recently was able to get a preview tour of the finished project.
The Interior Design is gorgeous and supper functional .
Location is in a Great area :Carmel Place, at 335 East 27th Street.
The apartments have neutral, pallets with a minimalistic style with lots of white and shades of grey.
The Lifestyle Brand is called Ollie.
The essence of Ollie’s Properties is to bring micro studios to the market and eliminate all the hassles and conveniences that come with that.
Designed by nARCHITECTS, the project is the first micro units apartment building in New York and consists of 55 studio apartments for both market rate and affordable tenants. Each apartment is one module, offering 260 to 360 square feet of space. All modules were fabricated at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.
While it may have garnered some controversy for its price tag (although 40% of the 55 apartments are affordable, market-rate rents start at $2,600 a month), Carmel Place is an extraordinary accomplishment for its design, modular construction.

This groundbreaking 3D printing technology, developed by the MIT Self-Assembly Lab + Swiss Designer Christophe Guberan, will be co-presented at Design Miami by the Patrick Parrish Gallery and swissnex Boston.

The technology is a futuristic manufacturing facility based on Rapid Liquid Printing, a breakthrough 3-D printing technology developed in collaboration with Steelcase, which can rapidly produce objects of almost any size or shape using a robot and a tank of gel.

The space serves as a manufacturing facility in which a robot instantly prints tote bags and art objects inside a glass tank of translucent gel. After printing, each product is removed, cleaned, and put on display.

This exhibit is the first public demonstration of MIT’s rapid liquid printing technology.

Rapid liquid printing can produce large-scale objects out of high-grade materials like rubber, foam, or plastic in a matter of seconds or minutes by “drawing” them in a gel suspension.

Traditional 3-D printing is restricted by slow speeds, scale constraints, and poor material quality, which makes it unreliable as a mainstream manufacturing process. With rapid liquid printing, manufacturing can be reimagined as an artistic experience unlimited by scale or gravity, asking us to rethink design, production, uniformity, and product life-cycles.

Experiments

A strong attraction for the different materials and their intrinsic features has always guided my work as a designer. I have decided to dedicate a few years to research on materials. My intent is to try and rethink the way materials are used, as well as the production processes, using the possibilities made available by the new technologies.

To me, those technologies (Computer Numerical Controlled machines, 3D printers) are an integral part of the creative process. I like the idea of hijacking the use of those complex machines, to turn them into manual experimenting tools. I favor an instinctive approach, working more on hardware than software. The primary aim of my research is to produce knowledge, to generate new aesthetics. When working on a process, I try to explore it in depth, in order to create a rich repertoire of shapes and possibilities. This inventory then nourishes my world as a designer.

Implementation comes only after research, in particular through collaborations with companies, that see potentialities in my work to develop a product.
