The SoWa Art + Design District is a vibrant community of artist studios, contemporary art galleries, one-of-a-kind boutiques, design showrooms, and restaurants unified by a passion for creating and curating exceptional artworks, products and experiences. Developed to support and preserve Boston’s talented artists and entrepreneurs, SoWa connects visitors with a dynamic group of makers and thinkers, and offers a platform to showcase their work at now-famous events such as the SoWa Open Market, SoWa First Fridays and the SoWa Art Walk.

描述:

The Sassoon brand has long been at the forefront of design, starting with their roots in the Bauhaus and continuing today with their unique teaching methods and styles. The challenge of setting the Shanghai school as the new standard for China and the world was one that Sassoon took very seriously, extending it all the way into green initiatives.
True to its philosophy, A00 Architecture required that the design be able to tell its own story. Both inside and out, the project needed to express cutting edge hairstyling, innovation and ecological responsibility. In order to achieve this the Architects centred their design around the concepts of Shear and Layers; working principles that are fundamental to both Architecture and Hairstyling.
This story is most well expressed by the sheared and highly layered rammed-earth wall marking the entrance of the Academy. Projecting from the building, it serves to engage the public in Sassoon’s culture, a priority that was carried through the design of the entire facade. Next to the rammed-earth is a pixel wall that flows with the wind, mimicking the subtle shifting of hair and inviting the public to take a closer look. Finally, the remainder of the facade is a massive sliding wall which reveals an auditorium, claiming the plaza in front of the Academy as its own public stage.
Designed to accommodate 60 students and staff, the Academy is located in a refurbished steel factory and uses a simple palette of materials: earth, bamboo ply, stainless steel, and aluminium panels. Openings carved out between the spaces are used to emphasise the concept of layering, both inside and out. Similarly, compound angles reflected by dozens of mirrors reinforce the concept of shear.
Now becoming ubiquitous, low to no VOC paints and finishes were used throughout the Academy, as well as LED and CFL lighting. Additionally, the Academy pioneered the use of a grey water system to pre-treat their discharge water.

WE’RE TURNING A NEW PAGE

BUILDING ON HISTORY

The six-acre site is the former home of the Boston Herald newspaper and has deep history as the New York Streets, a 24-acre, six-block area bordered by Washington, Albany, Herald and Dover (now East Berkeley) streets. The neighborhood housed a significant multi-ethnic working class from the mid 1800’s until the mid-1950’s when light industrial and commercial uses replaced the diverse residential neighborhood in the city’s first urban renewal project.

BOSTON Herald site  = Ink Block

MAKING NEW HISTORY

Ink Block is a return of this area to a vibrant live, work, play and shop neighborhood. It’s what we call Life South End Style. Ink Block is a vibrant mixed-use community with a brand new flagship Whole Foods Market and places to eat along the wide sidewalks of a reimagined Harrison Avenue. Above it all are 315 apartments in three unique and distinctive buildings. It’s why we say that the South End’s center of gravity has shifted toward Ink Block.

Reebok’s headquarters will feature an “alternative activity-based work zone,” with collaborative meeting areas, the company said. There’s also a fourth-floor work cafe, with grab-and-go food offerings and stadium bleacher seating for events.

These renderings show the fourth and fifth floors of 25 Drydock, a former military warehouse now known as the Innovation and Design Building. Reebok will occupy 220,000 square feet on five floors.

SEXUAL COLOR

Art exhibit Sexual Color by Gabriel Wickbold at No Borders for Design Showroom em Miami

Sexual Color

Photographic exhibition, research laboratory of images and interaction with people, re-reading of famous and sexy bodies. Choose one of these labels (or all at once) and apply on Sexual Color of Gabriel Wickbold, work scheduled to be shown in the second half of 2010, in New York. Pointing his lenses and projecting his pop light on a mixture of materials, organic or inorganic, onto human skin, the young, 25 year old photographer from São Paulo, reaches an unique way of seeing sexuality, covering to strip. He explains: ‘‘The paint is a protection and at the same time revealing. It covers a woman, but in character, reveals itself.’’ To achieve this effect, Brazilian personalities such as Adriane Galisteu, Fernanda Paes Leme, Didi Wagner, Natalia Rodrigues, Fernanda Souza, Adriana Bombom, Barbara Koboldt, and Carla Fiorito, undressed (the majority for the first time) and had their beautiful forms covered with chocolate, gouache, airbrush paint, synthetic hair, coconut vines, sand and makeup, not necessarily in that order. Dismissing stereotypes, Sexual Color reinvents and exports the Brazilian beauty in a format that you have never seen. Check it out and participate.

The project Sexual Colors is his maximum example. In it, women and men have their bodies intertwined in paints and threads in an explosion of colors, lights, transparency and details that reveal a true visual orgasm. For Gabriel, the atmosphere created by his images illustrates an extremely artistic eroticism. ‘‘Sexual Color is work that purely reflects sex art. It portrays everything i would like to perform in a nude photograph. Sexuality involves curiosity. It is no fun if it’s too explicit. Insinuating generates much more sex appeal then merely giving it away.’’

Not all those who wander are LOST!

The most important thing in LIFE is to get to know oneself —

In search of the Oneself. It’s a funny concept, isn’t it? How does one find oneself when physically you have never left yourself?
Or have you, but just haven’t noticed? Maybe you are one of the lucky few that doesn’t need to spend your life searching for what makes you you.
I meant the Real YOU! Not the one that people expect you to BE.

The only way to find yourself  to find out what you are made of and what really makes your heart tick  is to let go of everything.

Hopefully you will be willing to do it on your own.

Undress of everything including people. A Self cleanser.

We can stay home alone instead of going out to meet up with friends for drinks. We don’t need to meet up with our boyfriends, girlfriends, lovers, mistresses, booty-calls, f*ck-buddies or hookers. We don’t need to watch TV, watch movies, read, exercise, clean or anything else. In order for us to meet ourselves we must cut out all that is in excess of life itself. Curious huh?

Definition of Karmic Connection:

When you meet someone you have a karmic connection with, a spark of recognition ignites in your soul.

You’ll feel a haunting familiarity, a sense of having come home, a longing for something not quite remembered.

You feel a deep, spiritual connection to this person almost like you have known them for a long time.

You have flashbacks or deja vu moments where you feel that you have been together before.

You seem to understand each other and have a similar way of thinking.

You may have similar flaws or habits, or you both had similar challenges during childhood.

Your connection is intense and so too is the relationship. Often it can move from extreme highs to extreme lows.

You feel in sync with each other even when you are not physically together. There may be a feeling of having to team up together to conquer something.

You know intuitively what the other is thinking or feeling. You feel very in-tune and connected with their thoughts and actions.

Your relationship is emotional, challenging and can bring things out in you that you didn’t know existed.

You may experience huge shifts and changes in your life when you first meet this person.

Your relationship may not last forever but the love is always there.

Embraer 1000E Hollywood Airship

For many, private jet ownership is an opportunity to flaunt their individuality. This is especially true in the rarefied airspace of the ultra-large executive jet. As the biggest and the baddest private jets flying, owners of these converted airliners want to make their mega-dollar planes stand out from the crowd.
This brings us to Embraer.

The Brazilian jet maker has long been a fan of highly stylized theme interiors. Last summer, Embraer introduced the far east-inspired Kyoto Airship and its stunning skylights. Later in the year, the company rolled out the Brazilian Rancher-meets-Texas-oil-tycoon themed the Skyranch One.

In its latest effort, Embraer offers its take on the glamour of Tinseltown in the 1930s with the Hollywood Airship.

“The Hollywood is steeped in MGM style, with a nod to film greats of the black and white movie era.,” the company wrote in its press kit. “Embraer pushes the design envelope in private aviation with the introduction of a chic shuttle aircraft that celebrates the beauty and affluence of the past while embracing the advanced technology of the future.”

Due to the highly bespoke nature of the business, Embraer’s customers can choose to adopt the whole package or simply a few select elements of the concept.

Here’s a closer look at the Embraer Lineage 1000E Hollywood Airship.

The Hollywood Airship interior is designed for Embraer’s flagship Lineage 1000E executive jet.

The 1000E has room for 13 to 19 passengers, with a range of nearly 5,300 miles. It’s based on the company’s E190 airliner.

Formal dining for six is available in the VIP Crystal Room near the back of the plane.

So how much does all of this art deco fabulousness cost?

A new Embraer Lineage 1000E can be had for $53 million.

But for an additional $30 million, your Lineage can shine brighter than Hollywood’s biggest stars.

Business clients can conduct meetings in this spacious lounge while…

Times Square, the most bustling square of New York is known for its many Broadway theatres, cinemas and electronic billboards. It is one of those places that make New York a city that never sleeps.
